Of Course Kitchen & Company opens at Overland Park’s Bluhawk

Long-time private chef Swetha Newcomb has officially opened her first restaurant.

Of Course Kitchen & Company, a fine-dining modern Asian restaurant, officially opened its doors this week in southern Overland Park.

Of Course operates at 7753 W. 159th St.

  • The restaurant opened in a new 3,000-square-foot space on the eastern end of the Bluhawk shopping center.
  • Of Course neighbors burger chain Five Guys at the shopping center.
  • It serves as the shopping center’s first local eatery.
  • The restaurant operates from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The restaurant pulls from Asian and American influences

  • Newcomb fused her South Indian roots with traditional American flavors to create the restaurant’s menu.
  • The Of Course menu features dishes ranging from appetizers like shrimp toast and lamb samosa croquettes to entrees masala duck ravioli and palak paneer macaroni and cheese.
  • The restaurant also offers an extensive wine list and a range of signature cocktails — such as the “dark side of the moon” cocktail, which is a chai-inspired cocktail.

Newcomb used to own and operate a catering company

  • Before opening Of Course, Newcomb ran her own catering company that served private dinners. She worked in a number of Kansas City restaurants as well.
  • The restaurant’s name came from “of course” becoming a signature response to customers during her time as a private caterer.
  • “Of Course Kitchen & Company is a culmination of my dream to enrich Overland Park’s dining scene with unique flavors,” Newcomb said. “My vision is to create a space where guests feel at home and leave with unforgettable culinary memories.”
