The Big Biscuit in Mission to open this winter, officials say

The Big Biscuit is headed to Mission this winter.

President Chad Offerdahl told the Post in a statement that construction of the site — the former Don Chilito’s at 7017 Johnson Drive — was delayed due to “necessary upgrades to the space.”

Now, the Prairie Village-based restaurant is gearing up to open about a year and a half after its original summer 2022 opening plans.

“Our team is working hard to prepare the newest Big Biscuit for the City of Mission and surrounding communities,” Offerdahl said.

“A few challenging delays like unexpected but necessary upgrades to the space delayed construction, ensuring the longevity and quality of our restaurant,” he added. “The community is eager and excited for the Mission Big Biscuit to open, as are we. We look forward to opening this winter.”

The Big Biscuit replaces the old Don Chilito’s

  • Almost immediately after Don Chilito’s Mexican Restaurant closed in December 2021, The Big Biscuit announced plans to move in.
  • Offerdahl said at that time that The Big Biscuit had always had its eye on Mission for a location.
  • At that time, The Big Biscuit planned to open its Mission location in early summer 2022.
  • Supply chain delays led to the opening date being pushed back to winter 2022.
  • Earlier this year, when The Big Biscuit Prairie Village reopened after a major renovation, Offerdahl said the Mission location would open in late fall or early winter.
