The 100th QuikTrip location in the Kansas City area opened in Overland Park on Thursday.
“I live not very far from here, and I’ve been excited to see this this coming along here because this is going to be my destination,” Councilmember Paul Lyons said during an official ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday.
The new store, at 97th Street and Metcalf Avenue, sits on the edge of the property once home to the Metcalf South Mall.
“We couldn’t be more happy and thrilled that [QuikTrip’s] 100th location here in the metro is right here in Overland Park,” Andrew Weisberg, director of talent for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, said Wednesday.

Overland Park has reimagined Metcalf
- Over the past 15 years, Overland Park has taken steps to completely reimagine Metcalf through the Vision Metcalf corridor plan.
- Authored in 2008, the plan intends to address decline on and around Metcalf, particularly in the retail and shopping districts within the corridor.
- Vision Metcalf also seeks to invest in projects that mix uses, like housing and commercial, in new developments.
- The area surrounding 95th Street and Metcalf is a major part of the revitalization plan, particularly the properties previously home to the Metcalf South Mall.
- During the ribbon cutting Wednesday, Councilmember Lyons noted all the redevelopment happening around QuikTrip, including active construction on new buildings nearby.

Another QuikTrip coming soon to Overland Park
- Another new QuikTrip is expected to open soon at the southwest corner of College Boulevard and Antioch Road.
- It will sit next to the Shannon Valley Shopping Center.
- Overland Park approved the gas station and convenience store project in early 2022.
It’s a gas station and convenience store
- In addition to the pumps for motorists to refuel, the new QuikTrip at 97th and Metcalf will also feature QuikTrip’s customary selection of made-to-order food.
- Patrons can also order customized menu items from the QuikTrip Kitchen.
- There are also rows of fountain drinks, slushes, coffees and other treats available to customers.
