Shawnee Police arrested Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross on Monday afternoon.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office booking log shows that Ross, 23, was arrested at his Shawnee apartment at 2:54 p.m.
He was then booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Booking facility just before 4:30 p.m.
Recorded radio traffic indicates that three Shawnee police officers were sent to the Blume Shawnee apartments in the 6100 block of Nieman Road after a 911 call from a woman who identified herself as Ross’ girlfriend at about 2:45 p.m.
The woman told dispatchers that Ross had “torn up the house” and “broke her cell phone,” according to radio recordings.
Shawnee Police referred questions about the incident to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office. A spokesperson for the Johnson County DA was not immediately available to answer questions on Monday evening.
The Associated Press reported that the Chiefs organization on Monday said they were aware of Ross’s arrest and declined to comment further.
Ross is currently held on a pending felony charge of criminal damage to property, with damages estimated to be greater than $1,000 and less than $25,000.
The booking log notes that the charge is related to a domestic violence incident but does not give further details.
Court records show Ross is scheduled to make his first appearance Tuesday afternoon, where he will hear the charges being filed against him, and a judge will set his bond.
Ross signed a three-year, $2.56 million contract with the Chiefs in May 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson. He missed the entire 2022 season while recovering from foot surgery.
He has played in all of the Chiefs’ seven games this season, recording three catches for 34 yards.
