The Other Place, pizzeria and bar, to open in former Italian Delight next month

The Other Place, a pizzeria and bar, is tentatively scheduled to open its Mission location next month.

This new location is replacing the former Avelluto’s Italian Delight at 6522 Martway St.

City staff made the announcement last week

  • City Clerk Robyn Fulks told the Mission City Council at its Oct. 18 meeting that The Other Place is tentatively scheduled to open in late November.
  • Menu items include 13 different pizzas such as a buffalo chicken and a Philly cheesesteak option, as well as pastas like spaghetti and burgers including a mushroom Swiss burger.
  • This is the fourth Johnson County location for the sports grill and pizzeria, including one in Shawnee and another in downtown Overland Park.
  • The Other Place representatives did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this story.
  • This story will be updated if and when the Post hears back.

The landlord announced The Other Place Mission

  • Last year, Block & Co., the real estate company that owns the Mission West Shopping Center, announced The Other Place was taking over the former Italian Delight.
  • Italian Delight closed in spring 2021 and confirmed this via the restaurant’s answering machine.
  • The Mission location was planned to open in early 2023, according to Block & Co.’s press release last year.
  • The Other Place is taking over a roughly 4,000-square-foot corner space in the Mission shopping center.

What else is headed to Mission?

  • Fulks said several new businesses are either already opened or that are coming soon to Mission, including the now-open Kawai Piano Gallery at 5930 Broadmoor St.
  • Prairie Sailor Co., an outdoor clothing and lifestyle store, is tentatively scheduled for a grand opening Nov. 11.
  • The Big Biscuit and Los Gallitos Fresh Mexican Grill are both scheduled to open in late November, as well, Fulks said.
