Happy 2024 to all of you. What better way to start the new year, then to think about ways to buy your next house. Yes, it’s still a seller’s market, and we are seeing interest rates starting to decrease. Check out this “Daily Mortgage Rates Chart” from Nerd Wallet: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/mortgages/current-interest-rates.
Get your game plan started now, so you can get ahead of the Spring market. Here are the top five ways to buy in today’s market:
- Start with financing. Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer, or you’re ready for your next home, start with your financing. Working with a lender and discussing your home buying goals gives you so much more perspective on your different options. There are several routes to take with lending and there isn’t just a one size fits all approach when it comes to lending.
- Write down what you want in your next home. Weigh the pros and cons of the type of housing you want. Does your growing family need space? Do you need that office for more flexibility? Or are you looking for a guest suite for your out-of-town family to stay with you? Lay the groundwork and visualize what you want in your next home.
- Contact a realtor®. They know the evolving local real estate market and have experience in negotiating. Your realtor® will work with you every step of the way and help you compete against multiple offers in today’s seller’s market. Strategy is key in this market and your agent will provide professional insight.
- Stay resilient. In a competitive market, it’s more than likely that you will not receive a seller’s acceptance on your initial offer. Press on, it’s always meant to be in the end when you’re sitting at the closing table. Keep going in this market. You may have to submit many offers before you find the one.
- Take your time. Don’t settle for a home that you’re not excited about. You should take your time and think about what you are wanting in a home now, so when you find it – you’ll be ready to make the major investment. There will never be a home that is 100 percent what you want, but you should be able to find a home that mostly suits your needs.
As always, I am here to help you get started in your next purchase or if you have general questions about this market.
