Westlake Ace Hardware relocating to site of old Walgreens in Olathe

Share this story:

Next spring, an Olathe hardware store plans to move further south.

Due to impending construction at its current space, Westlake Ace Hardware will relocate from 120 N. Clairborne Road to a new space on the northeast corner of 151st Street and Black Bob Road.

The store will reopen at its new space in late March 2025, according to a news release from the company.

Westlake Ace Hardware is moving to 15066 W. 151st St.

  • The store will move into a 11,500-square-foot space just off 151st Street and Black Bob Road, across the street from McDonald’s.
  • Walgreens previously occupied that space, before it closed last year.
  • Westlake Ace Hardware’s former Olathe location on Clairborne Road will close on March 1.

Westlake Ace Hardware offers various tools and home goods

  • The store’s inventory ranges from grills and smokers to painting supplies and storage equipment.
  • The company also offers home repair and maintenance services like plumbing, painting and electrical fixes.
  • In addition to its Olathe store, Westlake Ace Hardware also has Johnson County stores in Lenexa, Shawnee, Overland Park and Prairie Village.

The store is moving because of construction

  • In the news release, company officials cited the pending Interstate 35 and Santa Fe Street corridor overhaul project and its impacts to the Town Square shopping center as the reason for the store’s move.
  • The roughly $200 million project will begin construction in 2027.
  • Local bike shop Bikes for the Likes of Us is also in the process of relocating to downtown Olathe due to the upcoming project.
