Donna was born May 7, 1946, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Gerald A. and Edna Louise (Alexander) Robbins. During her youth, her family moved throughout Colorado and Texas before eventually settling in Wichita, Kansas, where she graduated from Wichita West High School in 1964.
While attending Wichita State University, Donna met the love of her life, Ross Allen Wakefield. They were married on August 10, 1968. In 1974, they settled in Spring Hill, where they raised their family and enjoyed country life together.
While raising her children, Donna was a devoted homemaker. Later, she earned an associate degree in Veterinary Science from Johnson County Community College while her children were in school. Many in the community came to know Donna through the accounting business operated alongside her husband in Spring Hill.
Donna had a lifelong passion for raising and showing paint horses, a love she shared with her children and later with her granddaughters. She also cherished the many dogs and cats she cared for throughout her life. She was active in the Morning Glory 4-H Club, where her children and grandchildren participated, and she generously shared her knowledge and love of horses with fellow members.
After the loss of her beloved husband, Donna enjoyed traveling and birdwatching with her daughter, Jennifer. She was a longtime member of the American Paint Horse Association and a member of Life Mission Church.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross; and her daughter, Jennifer Hammett.
She is survived by her brother, Zane Robbins (Carol) of Loveland, Colorado; her son Christopher Wakefield (Greta) of Overland Park, Kansas; granddaughters Faith Farnham (Joe) and Kaelynn Elliott; and great-grandchildren Tyse, Konan, Alesana, and Theodore.
