Craft Putt closes indoor mini golf spot and restaurant in Overland Park

Owner AJ Chinn said the decision was "incredibly difficult" but best for his family — and both this location and the other one in Lee's Summit are now closed.

After roughly four years, an indoor mini golf venue and restaurant has closed its doors in Overland Park.

This week, Craft Putt announced its closure in Overland Park, which was its only Johnson County location.

Craft Putt was at 11440 W. 135th St.

  • The restaurant and mini golf venue occupied a space on the south side of the Quivira Crossings shopping center, just off 135th Street and Quivira Road.
  • There, it operated near outdoor retailer Erik’s at the shopping center.
  • Craft Putt only had one Johnson County location, in addition to another one in Lee’s Summit, Missouri (which is also now closed).

Craft announced its closure this week

  • Via social media, owner AJ Chinn thanked customers for an “incredible” few years at Craft Putt.
  • In the post, he said the decision to close was “incredibly difficult” but one that he felt was best for himself and his family.
  • “What started as a crazy idea turned into something that created a lot of memories and brought a lot of people together, and I will always be proud of that,” the post read. “Thank you for all of the support, laughs, celebrations, and unforgettable moments over the years.”

One venue closes, another one opens

  • Further north in Overland Park, the opening of another mini golf venue and restaurant preceded the closure of Craft Putt.
  • Taps Ins debuted at 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue at the end of 2025, offering two mini golf courses along with cocktails and eats like burgers and sandwiches.
  • Besides golf, Tap Ins also offers other forms of entertainment like yard games and more than 100 televisions for game-watching.
