Jeffrey Alan Tyson, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 21, 1956, to Robert and Virginia Tyson and big sister, Candi, Jeff lived a life defined by bold confidence, deep devotion to his family, and a genuine, magnetic ability to make friends and connect with everyone he met.
Jeff enjoyed a distinguished and successful career in banking within the Kansas City area. Known for his keen business acumen, he was more than just a banker to his clients; he was a trusted advisor and partner who helped countless business owners achieve their dreams. Throughout his professional life, he took great pride in his work, but he valued the lifelong friendships he forged across the city even more.
Above all else, Jeff was a proud and loving daddy-o, papa, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He found his greatest joy in the company of his children and grandchildren, always cheering at their events and celebrating their milestones with immense pride. To Jeff, his family was his world. He was the anchor of his home and the heartbeat of every gathering, finding his greatest happiness when he was surrounded by those he loved. He was an avid sportsman of golf, basketball, snow skiing, and hunting. He was a master of the backyard cookout, always taking charge of the grill and ensuring that every event was filled with laughter, great food, and the kind of fun that creates lasting memories. Every family gathering was followed by basketball in the driveway. Jeff was blessed with many friends who he loved just laughing and enjoying being together.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Kristin Tyson, and his adored children and their spouses: Matt (Erin) Tyson, Erin (Jon) Person, Melissa (Kevin) Clark, and Madison (John) Dill. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Brooks, Cooper, and Reid Tyson; Calan and Casey Person; Dean, Henry, Walter, and Frankie Clark; and Ada Mae, Georgia, Deacon, and Elijah Dill. He is also survived by his sister Candi (Gary) Farmer and their children: Jason (Candace) Farmer and Kristen (Ryan) Grisham. He is remembered by his former spouse Kelli (Ed) Rogers plus many, many wonderful friends.
Jeff will be remembered for his warm smile, his magnetic personality, his bold outlook on life, the deep abiding love he poured into his family, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those fortunate to know him. He leaves behind a profound void, but his family takes comfort in the beautiful memories and the strong foundation of love he built for them.
The family would like to thank the many friends who have given so much love and support throughout Jeff’s journey with Alzheimer’s, especially in these last few weeks. We would also like to thank his amazing care team at the University of Kansas Health System, the loving staff at Destiny Home Plus, and the compassionate care team at Ascend Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 29 at 1pm at Christ Church Anglican 5500 W 91st St. Overland Park, KS followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm at Shadow Glen Golf Club 26000 Shadow Glen St. Olathe, KS
