On Saturday, July 11, from 4 to 7 p.m., Town Center Plaza in Leawood will transform its South Lot into a vibrant festival destination for the Town Center Tailgate, a free community celebration designed to showcase the very best of Kansas City.
Presented in partnership with the City of Leawood as part of its “For the Goal” summer initiatives, Town Center Tailgate will offer an exciting mix of live entertainment, local food, family-friendly activities, and interactive experiences inspired by the world’s most popular sport. The event promises an unforgettable evening for visitors of all ages.
Designed as a “Best of Leawood” festival experience, Town Center Tailgate invites attendees to explore a variety of themed zones highlighting local businesses, artists, food vendors, and community organizations. Whether you’re a passionate soccer fan, a foodie, or simply looking for a fun summer outing with family and friends, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of interactive experiences throughout the event. A large-scale soccer-inspired community art mural, led by Pinot’s Palette, will provide attendees the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative piece of artwork. Families can visit the dedicated kids’ zone featuring face painting, balloon artists, inflatable soccer games, and other engaging activities designed to keep young visitors entertained all evening long.
The festival will also feature a lineup of local pop-up vendors and community partners showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that make Kansas City unique. Visitors can browse, shop, and discover local favorites while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the lineup of Kansas City food trucks and beverage vendors serving up local flavors throughout the event. Featured vendors include KC Cocktail Co., Tiki Taco, Brown Suga, Pitchside Coffee, Bahama Bucks, and many others, offering everything from savory bites to refreshing drinks and sweet treats.
Live entertainment will keep the energy high throughout the evening. Kansas City’s own The Crossroads Sound will perform on the City of Leawood stage, providing a lively soundtrack for the celebration. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from local soccer legend and Kansas City sports icon Graham Zusi during a special appearance sponsored by nbkc bank.
