Verna Lee “Tab” Corcoran was born on August 30, 1936, in New Boston, Illinois, to Claude James and Alfreda Louise (Litwiler) Tapscott. She carried throughout her life the strength, independence, and quiet determination instilled in her from childhood.
Tab proudly served in the United States Air Force from April 1955 to July 1956, where she trained as a Radiology Technician. Tab also worked for Dillon’s where she started in the bakery in Hutchinson KS. When she relocated back to the Olathe area in 1979, she continued in the bakery at the Santa Fe store before moving over to the store at 151St & Murlen where she worked in the meat dept and then as a scanning coordinator where she retired in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Cork” Corcoran, whom she created a life with and worked hard to provide for her family.
Tab is survived by her children:
· Michael James Corcoran and his wife Shasta
· Kelly Corcoran
· Laura Ruth (Corcoran) Joyner and her husband Nelson
She was a proud grandmother to Jack Corcoran, Cody Corcoran, Christina Corcoran, Amber Welch, Payton Welch, and Danielle Welch, and a cherished great‑grandmother to eight great‑grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
Throughout her life, Tab was known for her steady presence, her quiet resilience, and the deep love she carried for her family. She leaves behind the countless moments of kindness she offered to those fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
