Next month, thousands of new and returning credit students will start the Fall 2026 semester at Johnson County Community College (JCCC).
Students choose JCCC for a high-quality education and to earn an associate degree or certificate, but quickly discover a unique college experience that transforms lives through academic, career, and personal growth.
JCCC’s academic offerings
With more than 80 degree and certificate programs, JCCC offers a field of study for every student. For students who know they want to attend college but are still deciding on a major or career path, JCCC is the perfect place to start.
JCCC helps students explore different possibilities within a broad area of study through “Areas of Interest.” Areas of Interest organizes JCCC’s degree and certificate programs by grouping similar academic and career fields so students can explore options and then choose a major and create an academic plan. This saves students time and money while they find the academic program that fits their needs, all while making progress toward a college degree.
Students can easily transfer credits earned at JCCC within the Kansas higher education system with the Kansas Systemwide General Education framework. Students who earn an associate degree at JCCC (or another Kansas community or? technical college) can transfer all credits earned to either Washburn University or the six state universities – the University of Kansas, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, and Wichita State University. Upon transferring their associate degree, the student can dive right into advanced courses for their chosen major or degree at a four-year school. There are a few exceptions, which are outlined on the Kansas Board of Regents’ General Education Exceptions page.
Student life at JCCC
Students at JCCC can get involved with more than 50 clubs and student organizations to make friends and engage with the campus community. From JCCC’s award-winning Model UN team, which annually travels to competitions across the U.S., to intermural sports teams, like pickleball and basketball, there are ample opportunities for students to connect with their peers.
Athletics are a big deal at JCCC. The College is home to seven competitive sports teams—basketball (men’s and women’s), softball, baseball, volleyball, soccer (men’s and women’s), and the Golden Girls Dance Team. JCCC athletes compete at the highest levels, with the men’s baseball team recently winning the 2025 NJCAA Division I World Series and the women’s basketball team capturing the NJCAA national championship in 2024. Admission to all JCCC home games is free for students with their student ID.
JCCC students also have access to world-class speakers, performers, and experiences through the Midwest Trust Center (MTC) at JCCC. MTC hosts 100+ concerts and performances annually, and JCCC students can get $5 tickets to MTC performing arts series shows with their student ID. The CoLab—JCCC’s student collaboration center—puts on a mix of student, faculty, and guest presentations, and campuswide events give students the chance to build connections throughout the school year.

Scholarship applications are accepted year-round, so students can apply for financial aid even if they miss the yearly priority scholarship deadline. Prospective students can complete JCCC’s quick, free online application or visit the Student Center on JCCC’s main campus (12345 College Blvd., Overland Park, Kansas 66210) during business hours (M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) for in-person help with enrollment-related questions.
Key August enrollment dates for prospective students:
- August 18 — Fall payment deadline — 6 p.m.
- All students enrolling prior to this deadline must pay tuition and fees by 6 p.m. or risk being dropped from classes. Enrollment will be closed from 6-9 p.m. for drop-for-nonpayment processing. Payment is due on the date of enrollment for students adding classes after the payment deadline.
- Web enrollment reopens at 9 p.m.
- August 24 — First day of fall semester
- August 24 & August 25 — Late registration
- After these dates, students must be enrolled in a course no later than the first day the course meets.
JCCC also offers late-start and short-term classes that begin several weeks (or even months) after the start of the semester. These intensive courses cover all course material in a condensed timeframe. The individual class sessions are typically longer than those of semester-long classes.
