Dawn L. Vinson, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Liberty, Missouri, at the age of 64. Born on August 30, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Dawn dedicated much of her life to serving others as a devoted nurse, from which she retired after many years of compassionate care. She found immense joy in spending time with her family, embarking on memorable vacations, and immersing herself in the world of books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Gillespie and Gertrude Smith; her beloved husband, Benet Vinson; her siblings, Aloma Sterling, Clifton Gillespie, Yvonne Lance, and Burl Gillespie.
Dawn leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her daughter, Chaissie Vinson; her son, Benjamin Vinson, and his wife, Angelina; her grandchildren, Mauriwna Kidwell, Braydon Vinson, Xavyer Schindler, Aliya Schindler, Andraya Vinson, and Tytus Schindler; her sister, Deloris Kieffaber. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Monticello Union Cemetery following the service.
Dawn’s kindness, grace, and enduring love for her family will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
