Some digital resources available through Johnson County Library will be changing. The good news is that you will soon have access to even more research tools at jocolibrary.org, giving you continued access to trusted information for school, work, business and personal learning.
What’s changing?
Beginning Aug. 1, 2026, the State Library of Kansas will discontinue its statewide subscription to a package of EBSCO research databases. It will also narrow its statewide Infobase subscription for K-12 schools to Issues & Controversies beginning Aug. 31, 2026.
Because Johnson County Library receives many digital resources through the State Library of Kansas, some familiar databases will no longer be available.
What’s staying the same?
You’ll still have access to thousands of trusted resources, including many new ones. On Aug. 1, Johnson County Library will add a new Gale research package featuring 59 databases, replacing the previous EBSCO collection of about 48 databases. These cover topics ranging from health and business to history, science, literature and test preparation.
The Library is also adding ProQuest One Business, a comprehensive business research resource that includes scholarly journals, market research, industry reports and company information.
Many of your favorite resources aren’t going anywhere, including Britannica, Mango Languages, Scholastic BookFlix, NewsBank newspapers and others.
What if my favorite database is going away?
In many cases, you’ll find a similar — or even expanded — resource available through Gale or another Library database.
