Kurt D Hollingshead, 59, Edgerton, Kansas passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at University of Kansas, Olathe. Celebration of Life with Military Honors and Masonic Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 with a gathering for family and friends to follow at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 324 E. Shawnee Street, Gardner, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Wichita Cancer Foundation in his name. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
Kurt was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 18, 1966 to Darrell Hollingshead and Solene K. (Hanna) Hollingshead. He is a Veteran of the United States Army, serving for 20 years. Kurt retired from the Gardner police department in December of 2018. On September 11, 1993 in Gardner, Kansas, Kurt married Nicole Sands. He had a passion for living history, portraying 1840’s through the turn of the century, blacksmithing and firearms, both antique and modern. Kurt enjoyed old cars, rat rods, farm equipment and tractors. He liked pyrotechnics, woodworking and haunted houses. Kurt’s most valued time was spent with family and visiting with his friends. He was a member of the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City, Santa Fe Desperados, Mountain Men Group of Missouri, Masonic Lodge #65 and American Legion Post 370.
Kurt was preceded in death by his brother Kevin G Hollingshead. He is survived by his father Darrell, Kansas City, Missouri; mother Solene, Gardner, Kansas; wife Nicole, Edgerton, Kansas; daughter Claira Hollingshead, Gardner, Kansas and son Wyatt (Mariah) Hollingshead, Garnett, Kansas.
