May 23, 1970 – August 2, 2026
Michael Edward Brigdon, 56, of Olathe, Kansas, slipped quietly from this world on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the home he shared with the love of his life.
Born May 23, 1970, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Thomas N. and Lynn (Stewart) Brigdon, Michael carried a restless, capable spirit from the start. He graduated from Gardner Edgerton High School and later found his place among the ranks of the United States Navy. A proud veteran and member of the American Legion, he brought the same steady reliability he learned in service into his work as a construction project manager—someone who could look at a challenge, roll up his sleeves, and make it happen.
On August 26, 1995, in Olathe, Michael married Stacy King. For thirty-one years they built a life together marked by quiet devotion, shared projects, and deep roots. He was a man happiest outdoors—rod in hand on the water, boots in the woods, canoe gliding across still water, hunting mushrooms after a rain, or the open road calling from the seat of a motorcycle. Idle hands never suited him. He was always tinkering, building, fixing, creating—finding purpose in the work of his hands and joy in a job well done.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Stacy, of Olathe; his children, Savannah (Benny) Deaton of Olathe and Luke (Rebecca) Brigdon of Lawrence; his brothers, Chris (Tara) Brigdon and Tom (Cassandra) Brigdon, both of Columbus, Ohio; his grandmother, Betty Jane Stewart; and his grandchildren, Kash and Lauren—who will grow up hearing stories of the grandfather who loved the wild places and the people in them.
Those who knew him will remember a man who kept moving, kept building, and kept showing up—for his family, for his work, and for the simple, lasting pleasures of the outdoors.
