Pizza Tascio opens first Olathe pizzeria — with a third JoCo location still to come

The New York-style pizzeria opened its doors on Monday at 151st and Ridgeview, with a Mission location expected to open by the end of August.

A Missouri-based pizzeria has expanded its Johnson County footprint.

On Monday, Missouri-based Pizza Tascio officially opened its new Olathe location — its first in the city, and its second Johnson County location overall.

Pizza Tascio opened at 1485 E. 151st St.

  • The restaurant took over space just off 151st Street and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
  • Previously, Indian restaurant Curry in a Hurry occupied that space.
  • Pizza Tascio is open in Olathe from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The restaurant serves “New York-style” pizza in various forms

Pizza Tascio’s menu features a variety of pies, from cheese and pepperoni to veggie and “white tascio” (with mozzarella, ricotta, Italian sausage, broccoli and roasted garlic olive oil).

Customers can grab those pies either as full pizzas or by the slice. (The restaurant also has a daily in-store two-slice deal where customers can grab two slices and a drink for $10.)

They can also custom-make a pizza of their own by choosing their sauce, cheese and toppings.

Eli Lombardino, co-owner of Pizza Tascio, said the new Olathe location has already received a warm welcome from nearby residents.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “Olathe has had to be very patient, and so we appreciate that patience.”

The former Curry In a Hurry space underwent significant infrastructure upgrades before it was ready to open. The Pizza Tascio team installed a new oven and multiple refrigerators, upgraded the ventilation and air conditioning, and added some new walls and other interior updates to support the kitchen and service area.

That left plenty of time for anticipation to build. Even before the doors opened on Monday, the restaurant had already received multiple pre-orders for its first day.

“People are really excited, and we’re excited to be here,” he said.

Another Pizza Tascio is coming soon to Johnson County

Later this year, the St. Joseph-born pizzeria will open its third Johnson County location in Mission.

That location, off Johnson Drive near Sully’s Pub, aims to open by the end of the month (pending some final touches).

In addition to Olathe and Mission, Pizza Tascio has one other Johnson County location in Overland Park. That location, off 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue, opened in September 2022.

The Lombardino family initially opened Pizza Tascio in St. Joseph in the spring of 2021. The pizzeria now has five locations in its home state.

Though Pizza Tascio is technically new to Olathe and Mission, it’s not new to the residents there who have come to Overland Park or Kansas City, Missouri for their favorite slices.

“It’s so exciting to expand in general, but I would also say that it’s exciting to be able to push into Johnson County, where we already have people asking for us to go.” Lombardino said. “Having people ask, ‘When are you guys coming to my neighborhood?’, that’s fun. And then being able to actually open up in their neighborhood, it’s a very satisfying loop of being able to bring that to fruition.”
