Roeland Park Police confirm they’re investigating after gunfire was reported in the parking lot of the Walmart on Roe Boulevard.
According to online call logs, officers were first dispatched to the store at 5150 Roe Boulevard at 3:21 p.m. on Friday for a reported armed disturbance.
In a post on the Roeland Park Police Department’s Facebook page, Chief Cory Honas says that officers from Fairway, Westwood and Shawnee, along with Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies, all responded to the area.
“Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating that an incident had occurred, including shell casings,” Honas said. “The individuals involved left the area prior to officers arriving.”
Firefighters from Consolidated Fire District No. 2 and Johnson County Med-Act paramedics were dispatched to standby as officers searched for anyone involved in the reported disturbance.
Police say no one was located during their search of the area and no injuries have been reported.
Roeland Park officers are being assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Investigations Unit.
