Martin Lee Eisenman, 78, of Overland Park, passed away on August 18, 2026, at Menorah Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, at Louis Memorial Chapel. Burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Children’s Mercy Hospital or JewishGen, The Global Home for Jewish Genealogy.
Marty was born on September 30, 1947, in Kansas City to Ruth and Eugene Eisenman. Marty graduated from Southwest High School in 1965 and then earned a degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. After working as an accountant throughout the 1970s, Marty joined the family box business, All Packaging Company, and worked there until the mid-1990s in several capacities, including as partial owner.
At the age of 19, Marty met the love of his life, Sandra Goldstein, on a blind date. They were married on November 26, 1969, in Kansas City and were happily married until Sandy’s far too early passing in January 2012. During Sandy’s long illness, Marty was her constant caretaker, advocating for her tirelessly, and rarely leaving her side.
During their daughters’ childhoods, Marty was a softball coach, school volunteer, and chief tickler. He and Sandy loved to take the girls on trips all over the country with Marty driving, Sandy navigating, and everyone playing the license plate game. As a family, they visited national parks (especially Visitors’ Centers), historic sites, and many baseball stadiums. He was proud to have visited 46 states in his lifetime.
Marty’s three grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He loved being Papa to Elena, Max, and Noah, and believed wholeheartedly that his grandchildren were the smartest, most beautiful, and most accomplished children in the whole world. Everyone who met him knew all about their activities and accomplishments.
Marty enjoyed learning about and researching his family history and genealogy. He spent time piecing together the family story and meeting distant relatives along the way.
Marty was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandy; his parents, Ruth and Gene Eisenman; his in-laws, Rhetta and Nathan Goldstein; and his niece, Emily Perlstein.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Marjory Eisenman, Overland Park, and Lynn and Lauren Mandell, Takoma Park, Maryland; grandchildren, Elena and Max Mandell, Takoma Park, Maryland, and Noah Eisenman, Overland Park; siblings, Donald and Rosalyn Pelles, Silver Spring, Maryland, Scott and Pam Eisenman, Omaha, Franci and John Massey, Overland Park; in-laws, Elliott and Linda Goldstein, Overland Park, Cheryl Kasson, Denver; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
