School was back in session this week for students in the Spring Hill district. Pre-kindergarten through eighth grade started Monday, followed by the high school on Tuesday.
“We enjoy the first day of school. There’s a lot of hard work by teaching staff and building principals to be ready for the first day, and this is kind of the celebration of everything that is to come this school year,” said Josh Robinson, assistant superintendent for Spring Hill.
At several buildings, things looked a little bit different. Prairie Creek Elementary got a new pod of four classrooms as well as a new playground. Timber Sage and Spring Hill elementary schools also received additions.
On the high school level, Robinson said he’s excited that they can offer bowling and flag football as new sports this year.
“As fast as the community is growing, you’re wanting to make sure that you can manage the student enrollment, but also we’re continuing to be competitive from a programming standpoint as well,” Robinson said. “That’s part of the high school addition is being able to add some additional career tech ed opportunities to go along with the AP classes and college courses that we continue to offer.”
