May 24, 1956-August 21, 2026
Gary Wayne Seymour, 70, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away August 21, 2026. Gary was born May 24, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Wayne and Dorthy Seymour, his deceased parents.
He grew up in a small home with his parents and three older sisters, in the Ruskin Heights area of Kansas City, Missouri. He and his sisters often spent time, especially in the summer visiting relatives in the Craig Missouri area. These were very fond memories for the whole family.
Gary graduated from Ruskin High School and went on to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla Missouri on scholarship. He spent his professional life as a clerk for GSA (General Services Administration) at the Federal Complex on Bannister in Kansas City Missouri.
Gary was known for his sense of humor!! He always liked a really good joke that made him and others laugh along with an excellently told story about someone’s journey in their life. Gary was the uncle everyone loved to sit by at the family holiday gatherings. He was always interested in what was new in everyone’s lives. He was passionate about his faith in Christ and how that decision greatly impacted him throughout most of his life. You would find him listening to some great classic gospel music and would always be the first to share his favorite black gospel choir that he was listening to. His friends would describe him as extremely generous, to a fault. He had a big heart for the less fortunate and the disabled people around him. He always enjoyed going to church weekly, and was dedicated to the mission of reaching the lost. He loved sitting outside enjoying the sun and fresh air. It was one of his favorite things to do.
He is survived by his siblings Sharon Seymour, Connie K Daugherty, Rita J. Seymour. Along with Connie’s husband Gene Daugherty and their three children Angela Lee, Jeannie Peterson, and Joseph Daugherty. Rita Seymour’s husband Ramon and their two children Toby Espinosa, and Sarah Espinosa.
He was preceded in death by Wayne and Dorthy Seymour, his parents.
