Just weeks after opening in one Johnson County city, a Missouri-based pizzeria has officially debuted in another one.
On Monday, Pizza Tascio opened its newest Johnson County restaurant, right on Johnson Drive in Mission.

- The restaurant took over a space near Nall Avenue.
- There, it operates next to Sully’s Pub.
- Pizza Tascio is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Pizza Tascio serves “hand-tossed” slices and pies
The restaurant serves “New York-style” pizzas from cheese and pepperoni to specialty flavors like the “red Tascio” (with Dinapoli sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, basil and hot honey).
In addition to the standing flavor options, customers can also custom-make a pizza of their own by choosing their sauce, cheese and toppings.
Pizza Tascio’s pizzas are available either by the slice or as whole pies.
In just the first day, owner Eli Lombardino said the pizzeria received an enthusiastic welcome from its northeast Johnson County fans.
The pizzeria also plans to partner with its neighbor, Sully’s Pub. Guests over at Sully’s will be able to order pizza straight to the bar, via a QR code on tables there (similar to the way they already can do so from nearby WingStand).
“The community’s been awesome,” he said. “It’s been really exciting and we’re really happy to be here.”
Another Pizza Tascio recently opened
Further south, the Missouri-based pizzeria opened a new Olathe location in August.
Like Mission, that new location was a debut in that particular city for Pizza Tascio.
Though he wasn’t able to share specific details just yet, Lombardino said there’s more expansion on the horizon for the St. Joseph-born brand; potentially up to three new locations in the area next year.
In terms of Mission specifically, he said, part of the appeal was simple: people there were asking for it.
“We had a lot of people in the area that were like, ‘We don’t want to drive to 39th Street, or we don’t want to drive all the way to Waldo,’” he said. “So that was the first thing that made us look in the area. Other than that, it’s just a really cool little little stretch here on Johnson (Drive).”
