Overland Park Police confirm they arrested a man on a warrant for involuntary manslaughter on Wednesday morning.
Officers arrested Kaiden Jordan Jimenez, 20, just before 11:30 a.m., while he was at work in the 7900 block of Metcalf Avenue.
In an emailed response to questions on Thursday, Overland Park Police spokesperson Ofc. John Lacy told the Post that the arrest was made at the request of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Jimenez was booked into the Johnson County Adult Detention Center on a pending charge of involuntary manslaughter and is currently awaiting extradition to Leavenworth County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kaiden Jimenez was involved in a head-on crash on April 30, 2025, that killed Shane Greiner, 28, of Kansas City, Kansas, on Interstate 70 in southern Leavenworth County.
Troopers said the crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. on I-70 between the Lawrence service area and the Tonganoxie exit.
Greiner was a passenger in a 2023 Mercedes-Benz van that was driving westbound.
Troopers determined that Jimenez was driving a 2025 Honda Civic eastbound on I-70 when, “for unknown reason,” he drove off the left side of the roadway and into the median, striking two drain tubes before entering the westbound lanes and hitting the Mercedes-Benz head-on.
Greiner died at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, Jonathan Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.
Troopers also described the injuries sustained by Jimenez as life-threatening.
Online court records do not currently show the involuntary manslaughter case to have been filed.
Greiner’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jimenez in Wyandotte County on Feb. 11, 2026. The case is listed as pending and has no future hearing dates listed.
In a separate court filing, the Kansas Turnpike Authority is suing Jimenez for the cost of repairing drainage pipes damaged in the crash.
The case, filed by the KTA on Aug. 12, 2026, alleges that the drainage pipes were “damaged due to the negligent and careless driving” of Jimenez.
KTA is seeking $3,721.69 in damages plus an additional $281.25 in attorney fees.
No other details were immediately available.
