Michael “Owen” Sinn passed away on September 2, 2026 in Prairie Village, Kansas, taken way too soon. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana to Elaine and Dane, was an only child and first grandchild. He was truly the apple of everyone’s eye.
He was an outdoor enthusiast who had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore the mountains and national parks. He enjoyed working out, hiking, hunting, kayaking, and fishing, with his friends whenever possible, often with TJ who was like a brother.
Owen also enjoyed cooking, especially Greek dishes, which honored his heritage. When he was a child, he would point and say, “this is my Greek side.” Growing up he always had Stevie, his sidekick miniature schnauzer, by his side.
He also enjoyed anything cars, from Hot Wheels, to building Lego cars, to Formula One/Indy Car racing and making modifications to his own cars. Before he could drive, it was long boards.
After several years in the service industry, this year he reconnected with his career mission and started working at Saint Luke’s Crittenton Children’s Center, known as “Mr. Michael.” He loved his job and co-workers and was so excited to be working with children in the field of behavioral health. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas with bachelor’s degrees in social work and psychology, and recently submitted his application for admission to a graduate studies program, to further his education to become a therapist.
He is survived by his loving parents Elaine Sampanis Ferguson and Mark Ferguson of Overland Park, Kansas and Michael “Dane” Sinn and Shawna Sinn of Lenexa, Kansas. His grandparents, Dr. Perry Sampanis and Mae Sampanis of Bloomington, Indiana. His grandmother, Nancy Sinn of Bloomington, Indiana and was proceeded in death by his beloved grandfather, Michael Stephen Sinn of Bloomington, Indiana.
He is also survived by his stepsiblings, Sam Ferguson, Libby Ferguson and Jessie Ferguson, all of Overland Park, Kansas, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Owen accepted people as they were, without judgment, and enjoyed being of service to others throughout his life. He will be remembered for his smile, mischievous twinkle in his eye, sharp wit, and generous heart. He was one-of-a kind who was deeply loved by everyone around him and will be missed by all his family and friends. We know he is in God’s hands, and we look forward to seeing him again.
