Vice President JD Vance will visit an Olathe manufacturer on Monday, Sept. 14, his office has announced, along with Republican Sen. Roger Marshall.
The invitations to the event come via a flyer from MAGA, Inc., which said the event will be at Webco Manufacturing Inc., a metal fabrication plant at 20570 W. 162nd St. in Olathe.
According to the invitation, doors will open at 9:30 a.m., with a program beginning at noon and Vance’s remarks at 1:35 p.m.
A release from Marshall’s campaign on Thursday said Marshall would also be speaking at the event.
“We are excited to host Vice President Vance next week. Looking forward to sharing the manufacturing renaissance happening across our state — not to mention enjoying the best barbecue in the country,” Marshall was quoted in the release from his campaign.
MAGA Inc. is President Donald Trump’s main political action committee, with a reported bankroll of $400 million.
According to reporting in the New York Times, a new super PAC tied to MAGA Inc. has recently begun to send money to U.S. Senate races that are considered critical to the Republican administration.
The Times listed six such races that received the PAC money, but Kansas was not on them at the time of the story. Those listed were Ohio, Michigan, New Hampshire, Alaska, North Carolina and Georgia.
But the Kansas Senate race between incumbent Republican Roger Marshall and Johnson County Democratic pastor Adam Hamilton, once thought to be a safe Republican win, has begun to show cracks for the party.
The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal ball have both moved the Kansas Senate race from “safely Republican” to “likely Republican.”
The New York Times also ran a report Monday on Marshall’s time as an obstetrician in western Kansas that has the potential for political damage, saying Marshall frequently sued patients who were struggling to pay their bills.
Marshall and Hamilton are scheduled for a live debate Sept. 12 at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.
The event in Olathe is also open to the public via an online registration form. No mention is made of a charge for the event.
