Jason Barrett Kort, 53, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17th, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209. Burial to follow for close family and friends at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6900 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131. Jason was born on October 9, 1972, to William and Regina Kort in Kansas City, MO, and was a longtime Leawood, Kansas resident. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism and Advertising, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He married Dr. Heather Kort (nee Zack) in 2001.
Jason began his career in advertising before transitioning to sales. He was a devoted husband and father with a close bond with his children, and he was passionate about sports — especially his beloved Overland Park Fantasy Football League. He served on the board of the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education and supported a variety of philanthropic causes.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, William Kort (2025); his paternal grandparents; and his maternal grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Heather Kort; his children, Asher and Sydney Kort; his mother, Regina Kort; his grandmother, Sonia Warshawski; his mother-in-law, Linda Zack, and her partner, Mike Olson; his sisters, Ellie Kort and partner Ricky Catto, and Rachel (nee Kort) Black and spouse Matthew Black, and their daughter, Tali; and his beloved dog, Baily.
