Lawrence Joseph Waldeier of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the age of 80. He was born to Lawrence and Jeanette Waldeier in Maryville, Missouri on January 29, 1946. After graduating from Northwest Missouri State University, he began a career at Thompson-Hayward Chemical Company. Larry dedicated almost 55 years to the company, which is now Harcros Chemicals. He married Rita Sue Clements (1947-2011) in 1968 and together they shared 43 wonderful years. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting and gunsmithing. Never at a loss for words, he was always up for conversation. His greatest joy later in life was watching his grandchildren in sports and generally spending time with family and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Waldeier and a sister, Mary Jane (Keith) Preist. He is survived by his son, Joseph Waldeier (Tracey) of Tonganoxie, Kansas; daughter, Michelle Klaersch (Michael) of Merriam, Kansas; two brothers, James Waldeier (Mary) of Maryville, Missouri and Robert Waldeier (Ann) of Ravenwood, Missouri; sister-in-law, Madeline Waldeier; five grandchildren, Brady, Katelyn, Jacob, Corbin and Baylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS. A luncheon will be served following the burial at Amos Family Funeral Home.
