I-35 in Olathe closed at Santa Fe Street for 7+ hours following overnight crash

A tractor-trailer ended up on its side just south of the 127th Street bridge shortly before 2:30 a.m. As of 10 a.m., there was still no word on when northbound lanes would reopen.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that has left northbound Interstate 35 in Olathe closed for more than seven hours Wednesday morning.

As of 10 a.m., all northbound lanes of I-35 remained closed at Santa Fe Street while cleanup work continued.

The crash happened shortly before 2:30 a.m., according to recorded radio traffic, with a tractor-trailer ending up on its side just south of the 127th Street bridge.

The Olathe Police Department posted about the highway closure on its Facebook page at 3:30 a.m., saying that the northbound lanes would remain closed for several hours.

As of the publication of this report, no updates have been provided on when the lanes may reopen.

Neither Olathe PD nor the Kansas Highway Patrol offered immediate details publicly on any injuries related to the crash.

Northbound traffic is being diverted to Santa Fe Street, causing a backup and slow-moving traffic on the Interstate back to nearly 151st Street.

No other details were immediately available.
