Charles Dalton Sherwood, 46, Gardner, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026 at his home. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15915 W. 143rd Street, Olathe, Kansas. Dalton was born on December 12, 1979 in Springerville, Arizona to Charles Bryon Sherwood and Elizabeth L. Stradling Sherwood. After graduating from high school, Dalton earned a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Utah. He worked as a college counselor in Vietnam. On October 22, 2012 in Vietnam, Dalton married Hau Thi Thu Van. They lived in Vietnam before moving to Gardner 18 months ago. Dalton was always the champion for the underdog. He enjoyed gardening, Oklahoma Sooners football and Hau’s cooking. Dalton was called the fun uncle, “the funkle”. He had a passion for reading and learning. Dalton loved his family, especially his son Hugh and his 29 nephews and nieces.
Dalton is preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Hau Thi Thu Van, Gardner, Kansas; son Hugh V. Sherwood, Gardner, Kansas; father Charles Bryon Sherwood and stepmother Anne S. Sherwood, Olathe, Kansas; siblings: Cortne Harwood (Ben), Centennial, Colorado, Eleece Montgomery (Tate), Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Shadow Hansen (Trevor) Gilbert, Arizona, Jared Lucas (Sahn), Spring Hill, Kansas; step siblings; Davina Sanders (Nate), Helena, Montana, Lela Kaminer (Arnaldo) Malmo, Sweden, Scott Weinert (Josett), Spokane, Washington, Seth Weinert (Luzalina), Driggs, Idaho, Allen Weinert (Mayli), Indianapolis, Indiana and Anna Weinert, Olathe, Kansas and 29 nephews and nieces.
