May 7, 1935 — Oct 6, 2026
Prairie Village, Kansas
Margaret Ann Chase went to be with her Lord Tuesday, October 6, 2026 with her children and their spouses by her side. Born May 7, 1935 in Iberia, MO, Margaret was the only child of the late Ellis and Irene Ferguson. As a child of both the Great Depression and WWII eras, the family moved to Montana and Colorado before eventually settling in Kansas City when Margaret was 7 years old. She attended Longfellow and Bancroft primary schools and graduated from Westport High School. After graduation she attended Kansas City Jr College as well as Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, MO. Margaret was employed with AT&T initially as a Senior Stenographer. During her career with AT&T she spent time in New York for Rate and Route training and then back to KC as a Communications Instructor to teach the “new” Teletype system to the airlines, communications towers and large companies which included travel throughout the Midwest.
Margaret met Bob Chase at the Plaza Bowl in Kansas City. In 1959 they married and their union lasted more than 62 years at the time of his passing in 2021. Margaret and Bob traveled across the United States for over 50 years for the Professional Bowlers Association and Seniors Bowling tournaments spending time in every state except Vermont and Rhode Island. They enjoyed winters in Florida and summers with their family at the Lake of the Ozarks as well as annual trips “out west”.
Together they had four children, Brenda (Bret) Ambrose, Bryan (Sherri) Chase, Gary (deceased in 1988), and Richard (Karen) Chase. They were blessed with three grandchildren (Brianna, Monica, and Christopher) as well as three great-grandchildren (Adria, Aubrey and Russ). She was always very proud of her four children and was deeply involved in their activities including Village Church, Scouting, Sports and other school events. Margaret earned four Lifetime Achievement awards for PTA. In 1988, she was instrumental in bringing a chapter of Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) to Kansas City.
She had dear friends and family across the country and especially here in the KC area including the Doctors and Nurses of KU Westwood Campus, her Village Church Family and the very special women in her Circle 7 (she was so thankful for their love and support).
Known for her quiet grace, unwavering faith, and selfless nature, Margaret had a remarkable way of putting others before herself. Her kindness and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A short visitation will be held for friends and family on Wednesday, October 14th at 10:00AM at Village Presbyterian Church (6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208) followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30AM with Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka officiating. The Family will host a Reception for all in the Church Welcome Center immediately after the services followed by burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens (11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66210) at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions (if desired) be made to the Village Church Memorial Fund and / or to a charitable organization of your choice in Margaret’s name.
