In Loving Memory of Larry R. Mann

October 28, 1939 – October 18, 2026

Larry R. Mann, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his work, and the many memories he created with those he loved.

Larry was born on October 28, 1939, and spent his life building lasting relationships and making memories with family and friends. He lived in Dwight and Salina, Kansas, and most recently resided in Olathe, Kansas.

Larry worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years, dedicating much of his working life to the railroad. On December 20, 1982, he married Kathy Mann, and together they shared many years of love and family memories.

Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including fishing and gardening. He also loved going to the Prairie Band Casino. But above all else, Larry’s greatest passion was his family. His family meant everything to him, and he did his best to attend as many of life’s important occasions as possible. Whether it was a wedding, funeral, graduation, shower, or birthday, Larry wanted to be there. His presence at these gatherings was a reflection of how much he cared and how deeply he valued being part of his family’s lives.

Larry leaves behind a large and loving family who will cherish his memory and the time they shared with him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Mann; his children, Debbie (Mitch) Gerlaugh, Lori (Steve) James, Ron (Tiffani) Mann, Ben (Amber) Tryon, Corey Tryon, and Yancy (Crystal) Tryon; and his grandchildren, Troy Abker, John (Angela) Primeaux, Kaitlynn Thrulow, Victoria (Matt) Druse, Aaron Mann, Cameron (Kauri) Mann, Bristol Mann, Neriah (Evan) Boxter, Cortlyn Tryon, Ben (Lauren) Tryon, Triston Tryon, Dylan Tryon, Riley Tryon, and Violet Tryon.

He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren, John, Reese, Rylee, Amara, and Milli Primeaux; Calvin Thrulow; Avery and Gavin Druse; Amara Huggins, Graysen Collins; Maggie and Drue Mann; Brier Mann; Ryker and Silas Mann; and Dean, Logan, Haylee, and Madison Tryon.

Larry is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Marvin (Karen) Mann, David (MaryAnn) Mann, Carolyn Gaston, Gloria Szymoniak, Linda (Ron) Ballard, and Diane Bethe; as well as his sisters-in-law, Joannie Mann and Linda Mann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy John Mann Sr. and Lucille Gladys Mann; and his brothers, LeRoy John Mann Jr. and his wife, Eda Mann, Norman Mann, and Charles Mann.

Larry’s life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the love he gave, the family he treasured, and the time he made for the people who mattered most to him. His commitment to showing up for those he loved created memories that will live on for generations. Though his family will deeply miss his presence, they can find comfort in knowing that his love and the legacy he leaves behind will continue through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.

Larry will forever be loved, remembered, and missed. His family was his greatest pride, and the memories they shared with him will remain in their hearts always.
