Marvin Goldstein, a profoundly smart and resilient individual, passed away October 19, 2026. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, and later made his residence in Overland Park, Kansas. A humble and dedicated man, Marvin was known for his commitment to his family, his faith, and his students. He held the esteemed roles of Professor and Adjunct Professor, and his influence in the field of education was significant. His life was a testament to the words of Henry Adams, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”

Marvin was an esteemed member of the Beth Shalom Synagogue and Pi Lambda Phi fraternity, exemplifying his dedication to both faith and education. His academic journey was remarkable, beginning at J.C. Nichols Grade School, progressing to Southwest High School, and graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1959. He received his Master’s degree in 1961 in mathematics.

Marvin’s resilient spirit led him to enlist in the Army the same year, stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN. After an honorable discharge, because they needed math teachers, he worked at IBM before transitioning to his true calling as a Professor. He dedicated 38 years to teaching, impacting countless lives at Metropolitan Community College, Penn Valley, and Longview Community College, and served as an Adjunct Professor at UMKC teaching economics.

Over the years, Marvin enjoyed travelling with his wife all throughout the United States with two different vacation clubs and Europe with the Rockhurst Overseas Travel Group. He also loved the arts and was an active member of The Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery, The Theater League, The Unicorn Theater, Crown Center Theater, the UMKC Repertory Theater and the New Theater.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol Goldstein, and his sons Scott Goldstein (Debbie) and Dr. Craig Goldstein (Dr. Poonam Khanna), grandchildren, Millin, Elina, Caten and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Esther Goldstein, and his brother David Goldstein.

Marvin’s life was a testament to the power of resilience, dedication, and humility. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and teacher. May his memory always be a blessing.
