June 26, 1936 – October 20, 2026

Pastor Carl Minick entered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on October 20, 2026 at the age of 90. Carl Dee Minick was born on June 26, 1936, to Charlie and Ollie Bell Minick in Ramona, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Berryville, Arkansas, in the Ozark Hills surrounded by 4 sisters. Pastor Carl was raised in church and can remember riding to church in a horse-drawn wagon when he was a small boy.

His parents raised him on a farm where they worked the soil, raised cattle and chickens, and lived simple lives, as God was their Provider. They thanked Him for all they had. Pastor Carl accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a very early age. Carl graduated from Berryville High school a year early. Pastor Carl and his sisters formed a gospel quartet, and Carl sang bass.

Pastor Carl met the love of his life, Amanda Elizabeth Swofford, and married her on May 6, 1955, in Berryville, Arkansas. They were married for over 50 years until her death in 2008.

Pastor Carl accepted the call of God to the ministry in October 1955. Pastor Carl and Mandy pastored Antioch Church, Carl’s home church, as their first ministry.

After that Pastor Carl began preaching revival meetings wherever the Lord would open a door. In 1958 he was invited to go to California and preach revivals. They loaded their 1952 Ford with their first born son, most of their possessions, and preached their way to California. When they arrived in Oroville, CA, in October of 1958, they preached a revival meeting. As the current pastor was in the process of resigning, Pastor Carl was asked to become their pastor.

Because the church in Oroville was small, Pastor Carl worked any job he could find to make ends meet. He found himself repairing appliances, working in the local cannery, and rice harvesting. The Minicks never worried about finances, as their trust was in God. He never failed them, as he continued preaching, working, and raising his growing family. In the mid-sixties Pastor Carl was able to begin pastoring full time. Pastor Carl and his family became more involved in the Oroville community and the emerging Jesus Movement of the time.

In 1980 Carl, Mandy, and their two youngest sons made their way back to Kansas City where they began to pastor Emmanuel Family Outreach Center. Pastor Carl remained in Kansas City ministering for the next 46 years. Pastor Carl remained a faithful shepherd to his flock through changes in location, names, and changing times. Most recently, he co-pastored the Cure Church of Shawnee with Victor and Jackie Danridge.

Pastor Carl was a great fisherman and deer hunter in his younger years. He has always been a do-it-yourself repair man and woodworker. Pastor Carl had a great love for cars, starting with his 1949 Ford. He enjoyed repairing and painting cars. This passion for cars has been passed down to his sons, and grandchildren. He has an extensive tool and materials collection. Carl and Mandy were known to spend time antique shopping together as well.

Pastor Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda, two small children, Judy and Charlie, his parents, Charlie and Ollie Minick, and one sister, Dora Lee Ferguson.

Pastor Carl is survived by his sons Jerry (wife, Vickie and daughter, Ashley); Terry (wife, Lori; and daughter, Jessica and stepson, Alex); Daniel ( wife, Lisa, and children, Daniel II, Nicholas/Courtney, Cody, Miranda/TJ, Josiah/Hope, and Grace/Boogie). He is also survived by 5 great- grandchildren, Marlee, Vincent, Ezekiel, Melody, and Emmanuel. In addition, Pastor Carl is survived by 3 sisters: Dixie Stewart, Doris Padgett, and Lula Mae Gott.

Pastor Carl will always be remembered as a great man of integrity, a fierce lover of the scriptures, and a faithful servant of God for over 70 years in ministry. Carl Dee Minick was a great example and Godly role model for his sons and their families. He has left a great legacy.
