A Spring Hill man faces multiple criminal charges after leading Lenexa police on a high-speed chase Wednesday evening.
According to online call logs, a Lenexa officer attempted to pull over a driver on northbound Interstate 35 near 87th Street at 9:10 p.m.
Instead of stopping, the Honda Civic’s driver accelerated away from the officer
Lenexa Firefighters and Johnson County Med-Act paramedics were dispatched for a rollover crash on northbound I-35 south of 75th Street at 9:12 p.m. Those units were told to wait before approaching the scene until police confirmed it was safe.
Kansas City Scout showed at least 12 law enforcement vehicles near the rolled-over Honda before firefighters and paramedics were allowed to respond to check for injuries.
Recorded radio traffic from arriving firefighters reported a one-vehicle crash with the car on its roof and the driver out of the car with police.
Additional radio traffic indicated that the Honda Civic was being driven between 110 and 120 mph when the driver crashed it into a concrete barrier, causing all airbags to deploy and the car to roll onto its roof. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The 28-year-old Spring Hill man behind the wheel was transported by Med-Act to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He remained in police custody throughout his treatment.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
No details have been released by the Lenexa Police Department.
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office booking logs show he was arrested at 10:33 p.m. and booked into the adult detention center at 12:41 on Thursday morning on a pending felony charge of driving under the influence.
Late Thursday morning, online court records show the man is scheduled to make his first court appearance this afternoon.
He is set to be charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors stemming from Wednesday evening’s chase.
The felony charges are for more than four driving under the influence convictions and fleeing or eluding law enforcement in the commission of a felony.
The misdemeanor charges are driving while suspended and driving without liability insurance.
Online court records show he was charged for his fourth DUI in March of this year.
His third DUI arrest was in 2020, when he was also charged with felony child endangerment.
Johnson County Adult Detention Center records show that this is the man’s fourth time being booked into the jail in 2026.
He was arrested for DUI in March and June, followed by a probation violation arrest on October 6, and now his latest arrest was for last night’s DUI and pursuit.
The Post does not identify suspects until they are formally charged.
