Roberta Sue “Bobbie” Barber, age 80, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026. Born on October 9, 1946, in Healy, Kansas, Bobbie lived a life marked by love, dedication, and service to her family, friends, and faith.
Bobbie’s entire adult life was devoted to her family—immediate and extended alike. She knew everyone’s birthday by heart and never missed an opportunity to send a card, a note, or a thoughtful gift. Her idea of the perfect day was spent surrounded by loved ones, visiting, cooking, sharing meals, and celebrating life’s moments together. She had a radiant smile and eyes full of life’s bright light that could warm anyone’s heart.
Professionally, Bobbie’s remarkable career spanned decades and diverse roles. In the early 1970s, she worked as an accountant for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. Later, she served as a personal bookkeeper for a private businessman in Garden City, Kansas, before opening her heart and home as an in-home daycare provider to many children over several years. Throughout her working life, Bobbie also showcased her entrepreneurial spirit by selling Tupperware, Avon, and Mary Kay, earning the distinction of a Pink Cadillac through her dedication and success. From the late 1990s into the early 2000s, she applied her accounting skills at Zollicker Gas Diesel Propane and later enjoyed many years with Bradbury Group in Hesston, Kansas, retiring in 2014.
Bobbie’s passions extended far beyond her professional life. She loved history and ancestry, dedicating countless hours to documenting her family tree via Ancestry.com—a priceless gift cherished by all who knew her. Music nourished her soul, especially Christian worship and big band tunes; she found joy in singing and dancing. Her creative hands brought beauty into the world through sewing, tending to plants and flowers, and filling homes with the aromas of her cooking and baking.
A woman of deep faith, Bobbie loved Jesus and carried His message of hope and love wherever she went. She was a regular at church services and Bible studies, never hesitating to attend alone if needed. Her extensive library of biblical literature was a testament to her commitment to spiritual growth. Guided by a strong sense of compassion and intuition, Bobbie frequently visited friends and family unannounced when she sensed they needed support, always ready to lend a helping hand. She truly led a life of service—to her family, friends, and God.
Bobbie will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother who raised five incredible sons, an extraordinary grandmother, a cherished cousin, aunt, daughter, sister, and a loyal friend whose kindness touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Thelma Anderson, and sisters Myrna Hein and Sherry Laird.
Bobbie is survived by her beloved sons and their spouses: Shane and Michelle Barber, Dean and Kim Barber, Brett and Kim Barber, Kris and Liz Barber, and Eric and Julie Barber; her treasured grandchildren Madison, Mikayla, Mario, Merek, Lindsay, Logan, Nic, Cydney, Emily, Katelyn, Mason, Avery, AJ, Ashlyn, and Andrew; and her great-grandchildren Zoe, Eli, Carson, Nora, Lincoln, Callan, Piper, Rosie, and Haven.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bobbie’s beautiful life with visitation at Amos Funeral Home on Friday, November 6th, beginning at 8:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 9:00 AM. Burial will take place later that afternoon at 4:00 PM in her hometown of Healy, Kansas.
Bobbie’s legacy of love, faith, and service shines brightly, inspiring all who knew her to cherish family, embrace life’s blessings, and walk with grace and kindness every day. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
