Meet Dr. Tyler Koupal
Dr. Koupal is a biological and holistic dentist, originally from a small town in South Dakota. He earned his dental degree at Marquette University and practiced in traditional dental settings.
While working in a corporate practice in Kansas City, he felt a nudge toward something more. As he reflected on the holistic choices he made for his family, he realized his career in traditional dentistry didn’t match many of the values he lived by every day. That realization led him to biological dentistry and inspired him to open Kairos Dental.
Metal-free dentistry and safe mercury filling removal
Kairos Dental takes a thoughtful approach to metal-free dentistry. For patients considering silver filling removal, the practice uses a carefully planned process designed to minimize mercury exposure during removal and support patient comfort throughout treatment. Dr. Koupal follows SMART protocol guidelines from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), using a rubber dam, high-volume suction, air filtration, and protective gear for you and the team. He incorporates ozone therapy to help reduce harmful bacteria and create a cleaner environment within the tooth, then restores it with a tooth-colored, metal-free material such as a composite filling, inlay, onlay, or ceramic crown.
Ceramic implants and biological extractions
Dr. Koupal places metal-free zirconia implants, a biocompatible alternative to titanium. Made from a high-strength ceramic material, they offer a durable solution for replacing missing teeth. He also performs biological extractions for infected teeth using minimally invasive techniques designed to help you heal faster. Dr. Koupal personally performs both procedures, allowing you to stay with the same dentist from extraction to final restoration.

This technology typically uses less radiation than a conventional medical CT scan while providing valuable information to help guide your dental care. Kairos Dental is an out-of-network provider, but the team can submit claims on your behalf, and you may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your plan. Your first visit to Kairos Dental is a chance to share your goals, ask questions, and get to know the team. With about two hours set aside, you’ll have time for a thorough evaluation and a conversation about your treatment options. Your visit includes:

- A CBCT 3D X-ray, bitewing X-rays, and a digital intraoral scan
- A conversation with Dr. Koupal about your oral hygiene routine, diet, and sleep
- A guided review of your imaging, including any dental or airway concerns
- A comprehensive oral exam
- A treatment plan with time to discuss the findings and next steps
