Local Lime, serving ‘Baja-inspired’ Tex-Mex, takes over former Bravo! eatery in Leawood

The new Leawood spot is the first in the Kansas City area for Local Lime, which got its start in Arkansas.

A “Baja-inspired” eatery that got its start in Arkansas is gearing up for its Johnson County debut.

On Nov. 16, Local Lime will open its new Leawood location, serving tacos, housemade salsas, craft cocktails and more.

Local Lime will open at 5005 W. 117th St.

  • The restaurant will occupy a space on the north side of the Town Center Plaza shopping center, near plant-based eatery Whole Harvest Kitchen.
  • Previously, Bravo! Italian Kitchen occupied that space, before that restaurant closed in early 2023.
  • Once it opens, Local Lime’s regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The menu at Local Lime features a variety of dishes with “coastal” influences, such as curry fried shrimp tacos, spinach artichoke enchiladas, birria quesadillas and a chargrilled chili crisp ribeye.

In addition to its entrees, the restaurant also serves appetizers like chips and guacamole, ahi citrus ceviche and grilled ribeye nachos.

Local Lime is also known for its margaritas made with “fresh-squeezed” juices and other cocktails like piña coladas, palomas and negronis.

This marks the first Local Lime in Johnson County

The new Leawood spot is also the first in the wider Kansas City area for the restaurant, which got its start in Arkansas in 2011.

Local Lime is owned by Arkansas-based restaurant group Yellow Rocket Concepts, which operates five other restaurants in addition to Local Lime.

In addition to the new Leawood location, Local Lime has locations in its home state and in Tennessee.

“Leawood felt like home from our very first visit. It’s a community that shows up for each other, and that’s exactly our kind of crowd,” said Amber Brewer, chief creative officer of Yellow Rocket Concepts, via a press release. “We want every guest who walks through the door to feel that start-of-a great-night energy, whether it’s Tuesday margaritas at the bar or a birthday dinner on the patio. We can’t wait to be Leawood’s newest local.”
