Casey’s General Store in Mission to open next month

Casey’s General Store, an Iowa-based convenience store and gas station chain, is opening in downtown Mission soon.

The convenience store is taking over the former Hartman Hardware space at the corner of Outlook Street and Johnson Drive, and is anticipated to open in mid-July.

Casey’s is set to open Mission store on July 20

  • Kendrew Panyanouvong, a representative with Casey’s, told the Post via email that this is the company’s second non-fuel store in the metro area.
  • A grand opening celebration will take place after July 20, Panyanouvong said.
  • “We’re excited to expand and provide offerings that will serve our guests in Mission, including Casey’s handmade pizza made using our made-from-scratch dough,” Panyanouvong said.

Casey’s will serve the usual pizza and breakfast items

  • Casey’s on Johnson Drive will be open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • In addition to the well-known Casey’s pizza, the store will also offer bakery items, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and more. The space will be about 4,800 square feet.
  • This is one of 2,500 convenience stores the company has nationwide, according to a press release.

Another Casey’s is in the works less than two miles away

  • The company acquired the Minit Mart at 4815 Roe Blvd., Panyanouvong confirmed for the Post via email. There’s no timeline yet for that location.
  • This is part of more than two dozen store acquisitions Casey’s made in the Kansas City market, Panyanouvong said.
  • Casey’s is assessing plans for the Roeland Park store, but believes it “will be a great fit to serve this community once it opens,” Panyanouvong said.
