HCA Midwest Health building new medical plaza at Corbin Park in south Overland Park

HCA Midwest Health, which owns Menorah Medical Center, is bringing a new facility to south Overland Park focused on family care and women’s health.

Where exactly: Located at 13801 Metcalf Ave. within the Corbin Park shopping center, the HCA Midwest Health Medical Plaza will comprise a 30,000-square-foot, two-story facility with exam rooms, a lab, procedure rooms and imaging capabilities, according to a press release.

  • HCA Midwest Health celebrated with an official groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday.
  • The new facility will neighbor HCA Midwest’s existing CareNow Urgent Care center across the street.
  • The 4-acre property will be divided into two parcels, with the medical plaza taking up two of those acres and the other two set aside for a future medical building.

What to expect: The two-story medical plaza will house the Family Health Medical Group on the first floor and Town Plaza Women’s Care on most of the second floor.

  • The first-floor family health center will have 24 exam rooms, a lab, procedure rooms, imaging equipment and a staff of five family physicians, an advanced nurse practitioner and a physician’s assistant.
  • The second floor for women’s health care will include nine exam rooms, a lab, and two rooms with ultrasound equipment, as well as a staff of three gynecologic physicians.

What’s next: Construction begins this month, following Thursday’s groundbreaking at the site, and the hospital is expected to open for patients in August 2023.

What they’re saying: “Making HCA Midwest’s vision for the Medical Plaza a reality has involved tremendous collaboration and effort from the entire project team,” said MedCraft Managing Principal Eric Carmichael. “A hallmark of our approach is to develop and invest in healthcare facilities that will have a lasting and positive impact on the communities our partners serve.”
