Kansas City’s Rockhill Grille now open in Leawood

Kansas City’s Rockhill Grille has officially opened its doors in Leawood, marking the restaurant’s first expansion into Johnson County.

Where exactly: The Rockhill Grille opened its new location at south Leawood’s Town Center Crossing shopping center near West 119th Street and Roe Avenue.

  • The Rockhill Grille neighbors women’s clothing store Evereve on the east side of the shopping center.
  • The space now occupied by the Rockhill Grille previously housed Spanish restaurant La Bodega.
  • The Rockhill Grille in Leawood is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

What’s on the menu: The Rockhill Grille’s menu features a range of American steakhouse items, in addition to seafood and an extensive wine and cocktail menu.

  • Some of the entrees served at the Rockhill Grille include prime rib, pork chops, Scottish salmon and crab cakes.
  • The restaurant also offers a weekend brunch menu, ranging from savory items like avocado toast and biscuits and gravy to sweeter options like French toast and cinnamon rolls.

Bigger picture: This marks the first expansion into Johnson County for the Kansas City-based restaurant.

  • The Rockhill Grille’s original location operates at 2000 Grand Blvd., on the Missouri side of Kansas City.

What else: The restaurant’s opening was also one of the driving forces behind extensive city discussions earlier this fall about whether Leawood’s Town Center Crossing needed more parking due to incoming restaurant additions.

  • The other two factors in the conversation were the expansion of the existing North Italia restaurant and the pending arrival of Kansas City’s Café Europa, which will occupy the space that formerly housed Mediterranean chain Zoës Kitchen.
  • Both the Leawood Planning Commission and City Council ultimately agreed with Washington Prime Group, the shopping center’s owner, that the center could accommodate parking with the additional and expanding restaurants.
