A University of Central Missouri student from Overland Park died over the weekend.
Bailey Throssell, a senior studying sports management at UCM in Warrensburg, Missouri, died Friday at an off-campus residence in town, according to a statement from the university. The Warrensburg Police Department confirmed to the Post that the investigation into his death is ongoing.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Bailey’s family, friends, classmates and all those affected by this loss,” the university wrote in its statement.
The UCM community is mourning Throssell’s death, with many sharing stories on social media of how kind Throssell was, his ability to light up a room and to make bad situations better.
Throssell was an active member of his community — a member of UCM’s fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda and a 2026 summer intern for the city of Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department.
He was a 2023 graduate of Olathe North High School, according to the city of Lenexa.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss and our thoughts are with his family and friends,” Lenexa City Manager Beccy Yocham said in a statement to the Post on Monday morning.
