4-vehicle crash on I-35 backs up morning rush-hour traffic

A crash on southbound Interstate 35 near Johnson Drive caused significant traffic delays, but nobody was seriously hurt.

A rush-hour crash caused significant traffic delays on Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on southbound Interstate 35 near Johnson Drive in Merriam.

Recorded radio traffic from arriving firefighters reported that four vehicles were involved in the crash and had been moved onto the left shoulder. One vehicle was described as having heavy damage from the impact.

Firefighters and paramedics evaluated two people for non-life-threatening injuries. One of those people was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a minor burn from the vehicle’s airbag.

As a result of the crash, traffic quickly stacked up, slowing the morning commute for many drivers.

No other details were immediately available.
