Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken now open in NorthWood center

The first of two new restaurants planned for the redeveloped NorthWood Shopping Center in the 47th Street Corridor where Westwood, Roeland Park and Kansas City, Kan., meet is now open.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken officially opened its doors for a soft-opening at 11 a.m. Monday morning — and if the crowded interior on day one was any indication, it’s likely to be a popular destination. Normal hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, but the NorthWood location will have limited hours its first month.

Jonathan Bender at Recommended Daily has a good overview of the Memphis-based chain. The NorthWood location is the first in the Kansas City area.

1889 Pizza Napoletana is slated to open in the center, which sits just to the east of Joe’s Kansas City Barbeque, next month.

Last week, Corinth’s Sole Patch Men’s Shop announced plans to open a second location in NorthWood as well.
