Construction near Verona Columns in Mission Hills underway

The Verona Columns, backdrop to countless prom photo, are currently getting a dose of TLC from the city of Mission Hills. As part of the final phase of the rebuilding of Mission Drive, the city has closed off the roundabout north of the columns for a series of road improvements. They’ve also begun some demolition work on the flagstone walk around the reflecting pool that runs beneath the columns. The pool itself will either be replaced or repaired, depending on how extensive the damage to it is. On account of the renovations, the city has canceled its annual Verona Columns concert.
