Whoever emerges from the crowded field of Democrats looking to take on four-term incumbent Kevin Yoder for Congress next year is almost certainly going to be at a sizable disadvantage in terms of resources.
Yoder’s campaign today released fundraising numbers suggesting he had brought in approximately $436,000 in the third quarter. That total brings the campaign’s cash on hand up to more than $1.4 million. The campaign’s filing with the FEC shows individual contributions of $540,330.15 to date for 2017. He has $679,314 in “other committee contributions” and $70,309.54 in “transfers from other authorized committees.
According to campaign spokesman CJ Grover, Yoder’s current total for the cycle is more than all six Democratic challengers combined.
Earlier this month, the campaign of Prairie Village teacher Tom Niermann released fundraising totals suggesting he may be able to compete with Andrea Ramsey, the Leawood attorney who was an early entrant in the race and who has gained prominent support from national groups.
