JINYA Ramen Bar to open soon at Overland Park’s Bluhawk

JINYA Ramen Bar, a restaurant that touts its authentic Japanese flavors, is eyeing a mid-February opening at Bluhawk in south Overland Park, according to company officials.

Once open, the 3,000-square-foot space will feature a full bar, patio and an open-view kitchen serving up an array of authentic ramen bowls, small plates and vegan options.

This will be JINYA’s first metro location

  • Located at 7761 W. 159th St., the Los Angeles-based restaurant will open in the same strip of shops as recently opened female-focused fitness studio Blush Boot Camp.
  • JINYA was one of eight new Bluhawk tenants announced by the developer last spring.

JINYA touts its “slow-cooked” ramen

  • The menu features more than 10 different ramen options that are simmered for 20 hours, such as the “Wonton Chicken Ramen” that has wontons, spinach, green onion and thin noodles.
  • JINYA will also serve a lineup of plant-based foods, including Impossible tacos and rice bowls.
  • For small plates, the restaurant has edamame, mini tacos, gyoza, pork spare ribs, spicy tuna and cones and more.
  • Its bar will have a menu that highlights sake flights, local craft beers and a wide variety of Japanese whiskies.

There are 50 other JINYA locations

  • Owner Tomo Takahashi founded the first JINYA Ramen Bar in 2010 after moving to the United States from Tokyo.
  • “Guests will first come to JINYA for our delicious ramen, and then they keep coming back because of our incredible service and fun, contemporary experience,” Takahashi said in a statement.
  • Prior to living in the U.S., Takahashi opened his first ramen-style restaurant in Tokyo in 2000.
