JoCo Notes: Mattress recycling starts for half of Overland Park

Overland Park residents who live east of Antioch Road can sign up to have old mattresses hauled away starting today.

The city is offering free pickups of old mattresses and box springs all day this Friday and the following three Fridays:

  • March 31
  • April 7
  • April 14

Residents who would like to have an unwanted mattress or box spring taken away curbside must register by 5 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Friday on which they’d like the service.

You can sign up for mattress pickup here.

The city says collected mattress and box springs will be cleaned and sanitized and made available to families in need.

Residents who live west of Antioch Road will get the chance to recycle mattresses this fall.
