Overland Park Price Chopper now sells pints of this local shop’s ice cream

It’s been a busy year for popular ice cream shop The Golden Scoop.

The Overland Park-based business, which serves ice cream and coffee, employs adults with developmental disabilities and is expanding its reach in two ways this year.

First, with a new retail location and stocking ice cream in local grocery store freezers.

As of Thursday, pints of The Golden Scoop’s ice cream are now available at a Price Chopper grocery store in southern Overland Park.

The ice cream is at the Price Chopper at 7201 W. 151st St.

  • The Golden Scoop’s is available in the freezer section of Queen’s Price Chopper, just off 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue.
  • All of the Golden Scoop pints of ice cream are sold for $6.79 come in seven different flavors.
  • “We are thrilled to offer The Golden Scoop’s ice cream to our customers,” said Dylan Queen, Vice President of Operations at Queen’s Price Chopper, through a press release. “It’s an honor to support a local nonprofit that is making such a meaningful impact in our community. Our customers are going to love these flavors, and they’ll know their purchase is helping change lives.”

This marks The Golden Scoop’s debut in a grocery store

  • The offerings at Queen’s Price Chopper include flavors like coffee, cookie dough, chocolate and pumpkin pie.
  • In a release, The Golden Scoop co-founder Amber Schreiber said the new partnership with the Overland Park Price Chopper will pave the way for more opportunities for growth and workforce contribution for the company’s employees, dubbed “Super Scoopers.”
  • “We are beyond excited to take this next step in our journey,” she said. “Expanding into grocery retail means more than just selling ice cream — it’s about expanding our impact, creating more opportunities for our Super Scoopers to grow and thrive.”

The Golden Scoop also opened its second store this year

  • The ice cream shop opened a new location last month, in a space formerly occupied by McDonald’s at 10460 W. 103rd St., in Overland Park.
  • That new space came with new features, including a drive-thru — which a local franchise of Chick-fil-A lent some training help with.
  • The Golden Scoop’s original location opened at 9540 Nall Ave., in April 2021.
