Ice cream shop Baskin-Robbins opening new Olathe store

Customers at the new Olathe shop on Saturday will have the chance to win free ice cream for a year.

A popular ice cream chain is gearing up to officially unveil its newest Johnson County storefront.

Massachusetts-based Baskin-Robbins will celebrate the grand opening of its new Olathe store on Saturday, offering a year of free ice cream for select winning guests that day.

Baskin-Robbins is opening at 131 N Parker St.

  • The shop moved into a space at the West Market Shopping Center in Olathe, just off Santa Fe and Parker streets.
  • Beauty salon The Hair Shop previously occupied that space.
  • Baskin-Robbins’ regular hours in Olathe are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Customers have the chance to win free ice cream

  • From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, guests can spin a Baskin-Robbins prize wheel for the chance to win free ice cream for a year.
  • The store will also offer $1.31 ice cream scoops during the grand opening event.
  • Baskin-Robbins offers a wide variety of ice cream flavors by the scoop, in addition to other sweet treats like chocolate-dipped bananas, ice cream bars and smoothies.

This marks the fifth Baskin-Robbins in Johnson County

  • The new Olathe storefront also serves as the second in the city for the Massachusetts-based company, with another one at 11912 S. Strang Line Road.
  • Outside of Olathe, Baskin-Robbins also has shops in Overland Park and Mission.
  • “As a local Baskin-Robbins franchisee, nothing brings me greater joy than seeing families walk in with their children and the excitement that lights up their faces,” said local owner Gary Patel via a release. “It’s truly fulfilling to be part of those special moments and to bring smiles to the Olathe community we’re proud to call home.”
